Mindy Levine is an Associate Professor at the

University of Rhode Island, where she runs a

research program studying the fundamental science

of supramolecular interactions and its application in

carcinogen detection and the environmental

remediation of oil spills. Her work is funded by the

NSF, NIH, Gulf of Mexico Research Initiative, and the

Rhode Island Science and Technology Research

Alliance, and has been published in over 30 peer-
reviewed publications to date. Mindy has received

numerous awards for her work, including an Early

Career Research Excellence Award from the

University of Rhode Island in 2014 and a Women

Chemists Committee Rising Star Award in 2016. She

received her undergraduate and graduate degrees

from Columbia University, and completed an NIH-
funded postdoctoral fellowship at MIT. In her free time, Mindy enjoys conducting formal

and informal science outreach and spending time with her three young children.

Education K-12 Session

The American Chemical Society’s North East Regional Meeting for 2016 will take place in Binghamton, NY from October 5 to 8, 2016. One of the sessions being offered is an Education K1­12 for Science Teachers on Oct 7, 2016. Anyone can register and attend. Registration is at http://nerm2016.sites.acs.org/registration.htm . The fee is $35 and includes the all day session, buffet luncheon and door prizes from Science Vendors. The Workshops are the following:
